Merchant's Lane Cafe, Kuala Lumpur

If ever you run out of places to go to in Kuala Lumpur, you can never go wrong with going on a food trip.  And if you are a social media savvy, an instagrammable food, cafe or restaurant is a bonus.

Merchant's Lane Cafe is exactly this.  Good food and coffee plus a quaint interior for your photos.

I ordered flat white coffee.  It was good but I prefer if it's a little sweeter.

For the main course, I had Hongkie Beef Stew.  The beef was slow cooked to perfection.  It's very tender that it melts in your mouth.  It came with mashed potatoes (under the beef), bokchoy and savory sweet barbecue like sauce.

Merchant's Lane Cafe is located near China Town.

Just a few steps away after this street sign.

It's easy to miss it but it's the first door (green color) of the building.  You have to climb the stairs to get to the dining area.

Some Kind of Wonderful (S.K.O.W.) - 80's Vibe Restaurant, Marikina

Marikina is fast becoming a popular destination for food lovers.  Lilac street in Concepcion, Marikina, particularly has a lot to offer.

Some Kind of Wonderful or S.K.O.W. is not in Lilac street but near the area.  It is located in Birch Road corner Rainbow Street or right infront of St. Paul's Church.

It offers Italian, American and Japanese cuisines.  The restaurant is quite small but you'll get charmed by the 80's themed interior.  It was named after "Some Kind of Wonderful" movie from the 80's.  You'll also see a lot of other movie posters, old music records and other memorabilia's from the 80's in the restaurant.

Buffalo wings:  sweet and a little spicy with sour cream dip.

My friend ordered Spaghetti Bolognese:

I ordered Pesto Spaghetti since the waitress told me that this is their specialty.

The pesto was ok, nothing spectacular but the strawberry milkshake made my day =)

Bigoli - Breakfast Buffet

I have been getting this flyer whenever I pass by the area after work.  I want to try it one of these days specially since Bigoli is famous for pastas (my favorite :))

Unfotunately, by 6am, all I want to do is go home and sleep.  Goodluck! :p

Buffet 101, Eastwood City

I'm not really a big fan of buffets.  Most of the time, the focus is on quantity instead of quality. However, the grand idea of being able to eat all types of food from salads, soup, seafood, meat, pasta, desserts etc. is just too tempting. :)

This February, Buffet 101 has a very good promo for the Chinese New Year.  We availed of the 25% discount for Monday dinners.  So instead of paying P750, we only paid P562.50 per head.  This is a very good deal considering that this already includes unlimited drinks.

Very nice interior at Buffet 101, Eastwood City Libis, Quezon City.  The long buffet table includes a variety of dishes from plain rice to adobo rice and cheesy rice; salad bar, from do it yourself to pre-mixed salad which includes vegetables, macaroni and fruits; different dishes from filipino favorites like sisig, asian cuisine like curry, and traditional buffet dishes like roast beef/pork with gravy and noodles.  There was also chinese section but I wasn't that interested anymore because we usually eat this already.  There were only 2 kinds of pasta - Penne Carbonara and Spaghetti Bolognese.  There were pizzas and quesadillas too. :)

One of my favorite sections in buffets is the Japanese cuisine.  I love trying diffent types of maki though it's very heavy to  the stomach.  I also like the different fried dishes like tempura but you have to have the right timing since it gets easily wiped out and you have to wait for the refill. :p

We noticed the bottles of sake on the buffet table and wondered if it is included in the buffet.  Unfortunately, we were informed that we can't taste it and that they were for display only (lol).

Of course, don't forget to leave room for dessert!  

I like the maja blanka since it's not too heavy :)

Very colorful candies and jellies area.  The ice cream section is right beside it. :D

Nice that they also have crepe area.  But I don't like sweet crepes.  I prefer hot crepes like ham and cheese :)

Lastly, don't forget your fruits.  Eat lots of them :)

My team.  We celebrated the January, February and March birthdays and also despedida for those who will be moving to new projects.  So I guess, this is my first birthday celebration.  :)
