South Korea Accomodation: Guesthouse the Hill Review - My First Tripvisory Contribution

4 of 5 starsReviewed 1 week ago

My friend recommended Guesthouse the Hill based on her good experience when they were in Seoul last November 2014. Making reservation was easy since Mr. Kidae promply replied to my emails. Making payment was also convenient because I paid our downpayment using my credit card thru paypal invoice (i don't even need to have a paypal account) then paid the balance in cash when we got there. We also appreciate that Mr. Kidae answered all our inquiries and helped us even if it's not about our room reservation (like about cherry blossom festival, tickets to Nami Island etc.). He also speaks good english so when in doubt, you can always ask him. When we arrived, we had a hard time finding the guesthouse even if we were following the instructions on how to get there. However, once we found it and had our stay for 4 days, I can say that the location is very good because 1.) it is near Myeongdong station, 2.) a lot of restaurants and convenient stores in the area 3.) also near to some tourist attractions like you can walk going to Namsanggol Hanok Village, Namsan Tower cable car station and Myeongdong shopping area. We stayed in the Family Room (good for 4 persons) for 2 nights then had to move to the Triple room and paid for extra bed for the next 2 nights. The rooms were clean and make us feel at home but we just had a little problem with space when we moved to the Triple room. Nevertheless, Mr. Kidae informed us about this beforehand and we agreed to stay here but it was just unfortunate that the family room was not available during our whole 4 days stay. The room includes a TV but we weren't able to figure out how to use it since when we turn it on everything was in Korean. We could have asked for help but it would be nice if there's an english instruction included in the room. We also enjoyed the free Wi-Fi in our room and the free breakfast which includes bread, butter, cream cheese, jelly, eggs, coffee and tea. Overall, we are pleased with our stay in the Guesthouse The Hill. Would definitely recommend this guesthouse to friends.
